LR鈥檚 Student Life Awards Shine Again


An emerging tradition at 樱花动漫 returned on April 21 as students, faculty, staff and families gathered in P.E. Monroe Auditorium to celebrate the return of the Student Life Awards. The awards recognize those who have made a lasting impact on campus life throughout the academic year.

鈥淲ith student input and guidance, we revamped the ceremony last year, and we鈥檙e so excited to see it grow to include more students this year,鈥 shared Casey Stafford, director of student involvement and leadership. 鈥淲e鈥檙e creating an experience that will form life-long memories and joy for every student in attendance.鈥

The ceremony kicked off with lively mingling, stylish snacks, mocktails and dazzling 360 photo opportunities from Kuiet Stormz LLC in the auditorium lobby, setting the stage for a glamorous evening. Twinkling lights and shimmering decorations created a festive atmosphere to celebrate LR鈥檚 vibrant  campus life and honor the dedicated individuals who make the university shine.

鈥淭he Student Life Awards are about more than recognition 鈥 they鈥檙e about community,鈥 said Harry Titus, Ed.D., dean of students. 鈥淚t鈥檚 a moment to celebrate the passion, leadership, and resilience of our students. Every nominee and award recipient represents the heart of LR, and nights like this remind us what鈥檚 possible when students feel seen, heard and supported.鈥

Drs. John and Suanne Roueche Award
Avelyn Paulino 鈥26
This award is presented to a rising senior who demonstrates outstanding leadership traits and involvement in campus life. Funding for this scholarship is provided by the Roueche family.

Michael F. Riley Award
Amber Baker 鈥27 
Named for Michael F. Riley, Ph.D., former associate dean of students and director of counseling service, this award recognizes a sophomore student who has worked for the betterment of the campus community through service and involvement.

Jerry Shaw Excellence in Programming Award
Melanie Mora 鈥25 
Honoring the LR football legend, the Jerry Shaw Excellence in Programming Award is given to a member of the Lenoir-Rhyne community who has exemplified compassion and excellence in student programming.

First Year Student Medal
Randall Crew 鈥28
Given by the T. P. Pruitt family of Hickory, North Carolina, in memory of their parents, the medal is awarded each year to the freshman who is considered to be the most outstanding representative of the class in scholarship, participation in college activities, in strength of character, and in general conduct and attitude.

Dean鈥檚 Award
Isaac Riggs 鈥25 
Presented by the dean of students to a student who has demonstrated outstanding leadership, dedication and selflessness in working toward the betterment of student life at the university.
